shareReally strange movie. It wasn't a bad movie. But it definitely wasn't a Clerks movie. Overly self-reflective sappy affair that happened to use Clerks' setting and characters for its framework. Smith's voice over in the end credits made it clear more than anything that this was just a passion project for him.

I've been pretty critical of this movie, but I guess I can accept this. If people want to like Clerks 3, fine, but at the very least it's not a good CLERKS movie. It does feel like Smith just wanted to do something inspired by his heart attack and subsequent near-death experience, but maybe it should've been outside the View Askewniverse. Keep in mind before his heart attack, he had said Clerks 2 really was the end and he had stuck to that for promise for over a decade. He only made Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (which I still liked better than Clerks 3) after the heart attack.
Yeah I’m confused by Clerks 3. Where is the humor and wit of the first two? The dramatic scenes are fine but this film doesn’t have anything else going for it.. well it has “member berries” but those grew tired after the first half
I loved Clerks and Clerks 2 was a very solid sequel and the charm and humor of the original. Clerks 3 is just a dud
