Looks like crap to be honest.
Yeah, Paddington looks creepy and not at all cute.
The movie looks nothing like the books. And too many poor attempts to appeal to "modern" generation. A skateboard? Really?

From what I understand, the skateboard bit wasn't an attempt to make Paddington "kewl" but part of a scene where Paddington chases a pickpocket, thinking the poor fellow's just lost his wallet, and hops on the skateboard to try to catch up with him.
All indications are that the atmosphere of the movie is rather close to the books as far as charm, wit, and Paddington's sweet, naïve character are concerned.
HE STUMBLES UPON THE SKATEBOARD AND DOESNT KNOW HOW TO CONTROL THE THING, THE STRAILER IS STUPID.
