Thoughts on the ending

Spoilers

A lot of reviews are saying that this wasn't a ghost story but rather a love story. Jamie and Flora discuss this at the end. Obviously from Jamie's perspective this is true. But I'm not sure how anyone could have watched this and felt that they were watching a love story. For the first eight and a half episodes the relationship between Dani and Jamie was a minor subplot. The intrigue of the story had to do with the haunted things that were happening around the house and with the lady of the lake.
Dani let the lady of the lake enter her body so she could save Flora. She would have done this with or without having a relationship with Jamie. Really, the story wouldn't have played out much different if they didn't have a relationship. I think it's a bit of a stretch to call this a love story.

Well, the biggest stretch would be to believe that any of the guests there would have actually stuck around to listen to a 9-hour story. 😄

But yes, I agree - this is really more of a story of jealousy and revenge than anything else.

haha I had to laugh out loud at that remark, and yes its funny subconsciously I had this thought too. Funny thing is, movielogic has conditioned me, but your argument actually applies to a lot of movies that are told like this with a narrator and crowds. I now also have to think about airplane where flashback storytelling actually drives the people mad enough to kill themselves off.. The ZAZ team would have a ballgame with the ending crowd of this series.

It's not a love story.

I don't think people would even care about Jamie. She was a side character, and not an interesting one at that.
