Kaluuya (OJ) didn't seem into this flick at ALL....

He was too unfazed by everything in an unbelievable way (even his dads likely-mortal injury). I can understand "meh" indifference in a character, but he phoned in the whole thing and gave jack-shit of a performance; zero charisma and a wildly un-engaging to watch. Thank God Keke was there to actually bring some emotion to the script.

It was familiar to me, so I dunno. It's very subtle, but I believed it. I saw someone say they thought he was autistic or something like that. Whatever the case, a dim character can still be character-ish.

I liked him.

OJ wasn't meant to be brilliant or heroic. He was an introvert who was more comfortable around animals.

The "nope" scene convinced me. Faced with a giant predator hovering over his truck, OJ calmly shut the door and waited it out. Like an experienced animal handler, he knew not to provoke Jean Jacket or give it any reason to attack him, just let it have its moment until it calms down or moves on. He seemed both afraid yet collected. I thought he sold that moment perfectly.

I've seen Japanese do the same thing with their kids when they have a tantrum. Just wait 'em out, no interaction, until the tantrum runs its course.

I imagine he was instructed to act that way, in Get Out he shown he's a very capable actor so any failings here I'd put on the script and direction.

His character is the quiet type whilst his sister is boisterous. I imagine this is by design for contrast.

He was just stoic. Some people are like that. He was totally believable to me.
