Overated.

Me neither. Not very funny. Maybe I expected too much after Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead....

No God-botherer here either, but I'd agree (sadly) that this just wasn't funny.

It had some charming ideas, but ... well, I'm hugely fond of Shaun and Hot Fuzz (found World's End a bit of a clunker, though), and it occurs to me that the humour in those was about things Pegg and Frost clearly have some affection for. They even found endearing aspects to the things they were openly mocking.

Paul is very different. There are little twinkle-in-the-eye moments of them relishing being geeks, but most of the attempts at humour take the form of flat-out ridicule or jeering. It's unkind, and falls back on soapboxing, and it just isn't funny. I'm no supporter of religiosity, and i don't feel that people's beliefs necessarily have to be sacrosanct or immune from poking fun, but even so, a lot of this film was kinda obnoxious and just made me uncomfortable.

Yeah it was overrated. Didn't help (my fault) that I went in thinking it would be like Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz. The only schtick to the movie was a funny generic looking alien who is a pot head. It got old before it came out. This came years too late.

It was a bandwagon to "pot head" humor, and the fascination of "Geek" culture, And being different.


Showing off is the fools idea of glory

Yeah, I don't even see how people could validate this movie enough to be offended from any standpoint. The concept and Ice Cream trilogy stars had potential, but Seth Rogen and the director's 13 year old stoner humor totally kills whatever it had.

Overrated by whom? You think 7 out of 10 in IMDb is overrated? Seems about right to me.
