Idiotic Plane Hijack Scene

I could only watch until they took off. There is not a reality in the multiverse where some lunatic waving a gun around like this can convince a crew to take off like this. I don't know how the rest of the show is, because i physically can not watch this stupidity anymore.

I know exactly what you mean. I switched off when the plane took off. Would have done so sooner but was too baffled considering all the bullshit I just witnessed.

They could have asked any hobby simmer about procedures but instead they went the full retard route. The hijacking alone was laughable, but anything aviation related hurt me physically.

Yup theres quite a few bad aviation things going on here.

There is one part where Sylvie has to land the plane because the captain is incapacitated. But she makes a huge deal on the fact that although she can land a plane, she definietely doesnt have the skills to take off.

Well I am no trained pilot. But I have played flight simulator. I am absolutely sure that if you can land a commercial airliner, you know enough to get one into the air again. Really is just a case of lining up on the runway, setting flaps. hitting max power and pulling back on the stick. Then once airborn hit the autopilot. (She was already seen programming the auto pilot so she knows that bit. And definitely would have programmed ILS for the landing).

Other dumb part. They have a bullet hole in a window.. basically a window which could blow out. Then the captain, a trained pilot decides to fly the plane as high as it can go. Well it don't take a genius to guess what happens next does it!?

I'm a former pilot...

Yeah, take-off is much easier than landing and if you can land, you definitely can take off, but that's really just something someone with experience would know, and I can forgive that artistic license... or attribute it to the character not wanting to take that role of responsibility and not being honest.

As far as the altitude... the captain makes that decision to suffocate the guy in the wheel bay, and it worked. The window blew out, but as correctly demonstrated, that's not a significant concern... not nearly as compared to losing hydraulics and not being able to lower the landing gear.

As far as convincing the captain to take off... I'm not sure every pilot would say no in that situation.

It's a good show. Just don't try to nitpick every little detail and assume the worst of errors.

I also think it's a good show and am looking forward to next season.

I thought they had lockable doors to the pilots cabin after 9-11?
