How come they couldn't go back to the original wish at the end where everyone forgets Spiderman?
And not Peter? Also, how could Happy know Spiderman but not Peter? In an alternate version, he never took his mask off?

The spell that was finally cast erased Peter Parker. He no longer exists in anyone's memory (and, presumably, any written or electronic record.) Spider-Man was not erased. Happy knows Spider-Man. When he spoke to Peter at the cemetery he had no issue understanding that this young man knew May through Spider-Man. JJJ is still rampaging about Spider-Man. So he should still have his contacts through the Avengers and Stark, since they know Spider-Man. They just don't know his real identity anymore. (and couldn't find any infer on Peter if they tried.)

shareBecause he didn't want people to know he was Spider-Man. The original spell went wrong. The only way to stop the problem was if Peter was erased, not Spider-Man. The other dimensional people that were coming were ones that knew Peter was Spider-Man, not those who just knew Spider-Man

But yeah, he could have just as easily had everyone forget Spider-Man existed and the outcome should have been the same.
The problem is that Peter changed the spell too much and it got messed up. If he had said everyone who knew before it was released public from the start then it probably would have worked
shareHe screwed up the initial spell but there's nothing signifying why he had to give up Peter Parker and not Spider-Man. Strange said it was drawing everyone from the Multiverse who knew Parker and Spidey were the same guy (although Electro never knew his secret ID so that part's weird). Anyway, if forgetting who Peter was undoes the spell, it follows that forgetting who Spider-Man was undoes the spell.
