MCU Spiderman is terrible

One of the best comic characters ever mcu has ruined him. I m sorry but the fact that their most popular character ever is playing 2nd to the characters outside for decades is a joke. Sad we are in the 21st century this is were spiderman is at.

MCU fangirls give anything disney does a pass. For those that cried for a teen spiderman he was only a teen less than 30 comics, most of his teen year storylines were forgettable, it was when he started college that he became the titan he was. 3 movies with a teen spiderman is stupid

I do agree but we are a minority. Because Sony wants to pander to Ultimate Spider-Man fans over 616 ones. I don't like it either. Wish they had done it like the 90s cartoon where he's in college.

reply

Might as well have done Miles Morales at this best, they already have his best friend in the mcu.
90s cartoon or Gerry Conway/ John Romita years would have been great.

This movie seems like fan service

Ultimate Spider-Man and regular Spiderman ain't really all that different. Peter's an adult in the MCU now, but his personality is still classic Peter Parker.

reply

Yes they are since Ultimate Peter Parker never grew up and died in the comics years ago. Also, Black Cat is very different in Ultimate and so is Gwen Stacy, Eddie Brock, the symbiotes, Green Goblin, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Shiar, and Hulk. I admit Mary Jane in Ultimate was fun.

reply

He came back to life in a Miles Morales comic and I'm pretty sure the Ultimate Universe was restored (after being destroyed); though I don't think they make any comics anymore.

reply

I confess I only read 616 Spider-Man Now. I only ever read 30 issues of Ultimate Spider-Man and didn't find it as good as 616. Also 616 Black Cat is way better than the Ultimate version.

reply

Tom Holland is decent but I hate that his movies all revolve back to Iron Man somehow. Even in this movie, it sounds like the plot is centered around his friendship with Doctor Strange now.

reply

I got a feeling if Kat Dennings was Mary Jane you'd think differently. :)

reply

If she acted the same as Zendeya I wouldn't.

reply

I was talking to " thenewnexus" because every single MCU thread I go on he's talking about how she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

I hate Zendeya's MJ character. I like the actress but that character is so damn unappealing.

reply

She would be the only saving grace. Holland would have to go

reply

Isn't he in HS and/or college in both previous adaptations?

I don't care how old he is - and I'd love or hate Holland's performance in the MCU - I think the problem is the character is simply played out. There's too many Spiderme, Batmen, and Supermen in movies and on TV. I haven't even attempted to see his movies yet.

reply

Those 3 are pretty much not top priority in movies at this point. Which is not a good thing

reply

They can't be a priority, they are played out. Shit, they just announced ANOTHER Superman reboot yesterday.

I see where your coming from but I wouldn't say they ruined Spiderman. I'm a die hard fan of the character but I do agree that the MCU version made him look more of a helpless confused hero and that's not what I want from Spiderman. I don't think he has to be extremely tough, flawless, and always gets the upper hand. I like when our main character struggles and has many problems. That's what makes these characters compelling but they over did it with this Spiderman. I feel like they just made him look like too much of an amateur in these films. I hope this film will finally fix these problems. But I still dont think they ruined the character.

reply

Comic Spiderman was far from flawless. He was learning responsibility and becoming a man all in his comic debut, in 6 or 7 diffrent mcu he hasn't done that hes a fangirl. In the comics he wasn't looking for validation and acceptance, The Avengers didn't trust him in the early comic days, he had to earn his spot.

Sorry but Spiderman is far more interesting than what Mcu is showing

reply

I meant flawed as in problems he's faced in his life such as death of loved ones, on and of going relationships with MJ, Aunt May, Harry, as well as villains he might have created, as a result of failure on his part but learning from those failures. In the MCU, he pretty much just looks clueless and lost most of the time and always having to rely on Iron Man for assistance and telling him what to do all the time. I get that's a central theme revolving around his character with the whole father figure of Iron Man but there was just too much of it and got out of hand.

reply

And we also dont have its main cast! I mean where is Harry? Where is Mary Jane (not MJ)? Where is Gwen? This Spiderman is a mess!

reply

Yeah thats definitely a major flaw I have with the MCU Spiderman. They lack the other characters who are integral to the arc of Spiderman.
