Worth seeing?

I really enjoyed it so I'd say definitely worth seeing. It had its corny elements, but I found it both funny and rather touching. Probably not a film to see if you're a dyed-in-the-wool cynic, but if you're a happy optimist, go for it.

Absolutely worth seeing. Don't go if you are expecting a Superhero, the F-word every 2 minutes, car chases, explosions, magnificent scenery shots and someone who ends up winning a Gold Medal at the Olympics. This film is about character, and determination and shows that if you've got a dream, then it's up to YOU to go out and get it because it won't just fall into your lap. I saw a recent interview with Eddie and he said that he actually had about 20 coaches so they have all been amalgamated into Hugh Jackman and that he slept in his car, in a barn, in a mental hospital and the fight to get to Calgary was actually a lot harder than was shown in the film. I think he was also quite a popular character in the team because he is such an exuberant character.

I thought the film was lovely and I hope it does really, really well - just to wipe the smug smirk off the face of the troll poppycock (post "wtf" but don't bother to read it because he/she hasn't even seen the film so how on earth he/she can comment on it is beyond me. Sad little person).

There are some laugh out loud moments, lots of "oh my god he's not going to do that is he?", there's Hugh Jackman to look at (worth going to see just for him) and towards the end a real feeling of YES! and I had some weepy eyes too. I thought it was great.

I went into the cinema with low expectations but had a smile on my face from beginning to end. A truly great FEEL GOOD movie.

You know what? It really is.
Like a lot of people on this board I wasn't expecting much from this film (to the extent that I very nearly didn't bother seeing it in the first place), but I genuinely enjoyed it and even found it rather moving in places.

If I was to be picky, I'd say that I'd still have preferred it to have stuck closer to the facts (Edwards' story is so extraordinary that I don't think it needs embellishing), but despite all the "underdog" clichés it's still very entertaining.

TBH I shouldn't have doubted it in the first place: Dexter Fletcher's previous film was the Proclaimers musical Sunshine on Leith: another film I was initially concerned about, but he handled the material perfectly.
