The Cinematography

Say what you want about the quality of the story and characters, but the visuals and cinematography were absolutely astounding. The lighting and colors at the Shanghai fightscene and Macau exterior shots were particularly beautiful, like a piece of art by itself. Overall, the camera work was highly superior to the chopped up mess that was Quantum of Solace. Easily one of the best photography work on any Bond-movie.

reply

Absolutely! This was easily my favourite Bond movie with Craig starring and the main reason was the cinematography. A gorgeous film to look at, and the opening credits sequence alone was one of the best I've ever seen.

Meanwhile, back at the OP...

Yes, the cinematography on Skyfall was superb. I was very upset that it didn't get the Oscar for cinematography.

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

Deakins has to keep his streak going.

It's that man again!!

reply

I hope that you are agreeing with my comments about Mr. Deakins. By the way, did you know that he got an Oscar nomination for Unbroken?

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.

reply

After so many losses, he won 2 almost consecutive awards.
One for Blade Runner 2049, another for 1917.

Meh, it looks like any generic overly glossy film of the 2010's. There's nothing exceptional or unique about the photography in this.

Besides, if I wanted to see nice pictures of Scotland, I would just read National Geographic instead.

reply

No, you are wrong. It was one of Deakins' finest works. And he, himself, is a legend in this field.

reply

Okay, who cares? The film sucks from beginning to end. The quality of the picture doesn't change that fact.

reply

Who cares? You were the one making an incorrect comment regarding photography in the first place. If nobody cares, you shouldn't have make the comment in the first place.

reply

Far and away the best ever in a Bond film and one of the great Roger Deakins’ finest works. It is completely stunning.

And the naysayers up in here aside (yawn), this is a TERRIFIC film overall.

reply

Deakins is terrific.
