Three Colours: Blue, whilst she isn't in a mental hospital, is in hospital and tries to overdose -- the film then follows her trying to rebuild her life.

Another French film with Audrey Tautou called 'He loves me ... he loves me not' which deals with erotomania and how she eventually is admitted into hospital after attempting to kill the object of her affections.

Wilbur wants to kill himself. Some of the scenes are in a mental hospital. But the story is about what´s life worth living for.

I'd rather be hated for who I am. Than loved for who I am not.
