this film takes the easy road
instead of dealing with/exploring the rare cases of women who murder thier children (and why they do it), the film gives the main character a "get out" clause which makes her likeable at the end.

shareWhile I agree that the producers/director/writer do take the easy road here, the idea that a mother would get 15 years in prison for euthanizing her terminally ill child is preposterous. I can understand that Juliette may not have wanted to co-operate in her own defense but is there no such thing as a public defender in France? Even if her husband did testify against her I can't understand how she could ever have gotten 15 years unless she insisted on accepting a plea bargain or something of that nature.
In addition to this plot implausibility the movie seems to be made up of one cliché after another and the acting Kristin Thomas was pretty much an abomination.
