Genuine question, is it that much of a surprise? I've seen a lot of comments from even die-hard Marvel fans that they're not too interested in this.
shareIt does feel like the wheels are coming off the Marvel movie juggernaut .. There's been the past few underperformers/bombs since Endgame which felt like a genuine much needed end to the saga in casual moviegoers minds (aside Spiderman NWH but that was mainly due to the previous SMs/villains, Dr Strange 2 bc it was the multiverse (and Raimi) and everyone wanted to see which previous Marvel actors/tom cruise be in it, and Guardians 3 bc its Guardians) those aside all the rest were disappointments financially and for audiences (moaning about the subpar FX, overall lameness) , but this Marvels looks like it might be the one to cause some real damage to the brand with its first genuine Flash style megaflop the type everyone goes 'how could they not see that coming?' and loses 100m (budget 250-300m and looking like it might be lucky to break 500m Antman3 style). Feige must be like the Multiverse/Secret Wars saga can't get here fast enough so they can bring in Jackman, Maguire, RDJ back etc.. but even that they've now got the problems with the Kang dude (centring all the forthcoming multiverse stuff around him, or not..)

I haven't seen an MCU movie since Endgame, which did feel like a perfect conclusion (although obviously they weren't going to stop there!). Nothing since has tempted me - although I am more of a DC guy.
shareThat's the reality of cinema in 2023. Welcome to the beginning of the end.
