If you realise the story is being told by Korg, who is an idiot. You see that it is being told similar to how Luis, the Michael Pena character told his story in Antman. That's why it is so over the top stupid.

shareA very interesting take I can't disagree with. He narrates the whole movie. This IS his story. He's something of an unreliable narrator and we can't actually believe a single thing that happens in the film. In fact, the next time we see Thor in the MCU it should be brought up and he simply needs a line like, "it didn't really happen like that". And all would be forgiven. This can still be fixed.
