Thats all I really have to say..... Except that I am utterly appalled. NO ONE. I REPEAT. NO ONE WILL "EVER" be able to play Anne Shirley but Megan Follows. The thought of Hershey parading around in Megan's shoes makes me sick. Or anyone else for that matter- I don't even care if your Madam Streep... There are some performances you get so attached to and some faces that you get so transfixed upon that NO ONE. I REPEAT NO ONE WILL "EVER" be able to play again without outwardly seeking hell for. Follows has long been snubbed as an actress and this is the final straw. MEGAN FOLLOW-ERS Cry Out... It's Still Not Too Late To Get Hershey Booed Off The Set... OR. ANYONE ELSE for that matter. What were the producers, casting agent and director thinking....?!?! More proof that the film world is becoming filled with idiots. Well move out of the way idiots (*Rolls up sleeves for effect*)- because here I come. Nixing Megan Follows as the beloved Anne Shirley? It's on now.

I hate to break it to you, but Megan Follows is now 40 years old. Great actress or not, I think she'd have a tough time playing an 11 year old.

They are not talking about her replacing the actress who plays the young Anne but Barbara Hershey is playing an OLDER one. Check the cast list.

There's an "older anne shirley" in the cast list diamondmine03 and it's not Megan Follows.

Megan had such a beautiful face and a flawless talent. Those other girls and women don't do Anne justice.

Was Megan Follows not offered the role or did she turn it down?

I agree, nobody will EVER be able to replace Anne .. they really should have gotten Megan Follows to play the older Anne. But then again, maybe she was offered the role and didn't want it??

i didn't want to watch it cause to me there is only one anne, megan but i watched it anyways, barbara hershey doesn't even compare to megan for anne. i like barbara hershey as an actress just not anne shirley.

I agree . Megan is 41 she would perfect . Her voice deepend in the 3rd Anne Movie . But she still had the spunk to play anne. Has she done anything recently.
I remember seeing the BBC version of Anne of Avonlea . I was very disappointed , Kim Braden sort of had the same charctaristics but not nearly enough.

I'm sure she saw the script & wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. It's so far away from the books now that it's horrible! I also will accept nobody else, but Jonathan Crombie, as Gilbert!

yes! exactly! Sullivan is a jerk for making this. Follows and Crombie are the only Anne and Gilbert, and we, as fans, can reject (i.e. not see; send angry mail) to protest any more commercializing/betraying of the story.

Well, look at it this way. Sullivan made such a crap movie that thank GOODNESS Follows isn't a part of it. I look at this garbage as a bad dream Sullivan had and actually produced. None of this really happened to Anne. I refuse to believe this happened. Notice how they "killed off" Gilbert? Probably because he had the good sense to stay away from this disgusting crap as well. They couldn't "kill off" Anne, so they recast her.

Sullivan is just trying to get as much money as he can out of the story by turning it and twisting it and screwing it up. HE is the real villian. The real Anne and Gilbert know this story is done..or at least, this bad egg plotline is not the way to go with it.

I am DISGUSTED at this horrible, horrible betrayal of the fans. Megan has too much class for this crap. Sullivan, apparently, does not.
