Has Anyone Read the Books?

The original works by L.M. Montgomery in the Anne series are practically sacred to me (Anne of Green Gables, Avonlea, the Island, Windy Poplars, House of Dreams, Ingleside, Rainbow Valley and Rilla).
Why aren't the other books in the series turned into movies or TV shows? I absolutely love all of the other books, and there is plenty of fodder in them to produce several more works with. So why do TV execs insist on making up new story lines or even new characters?

The only movie I have ever been happy with was Anne of Green Gables, Megan Follows was almost perfect, although I thought she was too short. The sequel tried to combine too many plot lines and made story lines up to make everything work and I was disappointed by it. "Anne 3" and all other Anne shows just made me sad.

Am I alone on this, or would anyone else like to see all new story lines stopped, and the other books used?
