They already have a line between the 2 balconies and they both have access to high quality climbing ropes. Why not attach a rope between the balconies so one can join the other? Dropping down to the ground where most of the zombies are and then back up is fucking stupid. Everything up until that action scene made sense.
shareThe were probably worried that the balcony ledges wouldn't be able to support their weight. And if they fell from that height it would've been game over for sure. I like how Yoo-Bin practically turned into a kama-wielding ninja the moment she touched ground. That was pretty fun.
shareThey can attach the ropes to literally anything and everything in their respective apartments (around an entire room even by going thru 1 window and 1 door). She was a climber with plenty of gear, surely she knows how to secure herself to the rope and make it impossible to fall.
shareWhen it comes to action films, I think pure logic is often sacrificed for what makes for a more exciting scene. Watching Yoo-bin and Joon-woo fight their way across the courtyard was more exciting than a zip line crossing likely would've been.
shareThere was so much inconsistencies with the movie that the good bit in the start/middle about loneliness and starvation got overshadowed with the terrible action bits at the end.
The other terrible bit was when he's holding back the horde on the stairs with a bicycle and his hands aren't even covered but he got out unscathed.
Little while after when there getting chased down the hallway, how a metal trellis door held back a horde of zombies right after.
Or how the helicopter came from underneath rather then above/side of the building.
or how about when up on the roof that they didn't climb up to the highest point where only one narrow ladder led to the top?
Crossing a large distance like that using a rope would put a lot more strain on the rope than repelling down because physics. They probably didn't feel confident the rope or whatever they attached it to would hold.
