That was so unethical. I didn’t find it funny either. Also think it is unethical to make Tristan a veterinarian when he failed all his exams, then send him off to treat the local animals.

Also wouldn’t the lady’s friends and family notice that the bird was a different color?

IMO Tristan is an unlikeable character with few redeeming qualities but the show tries to portray him as Siegfred’s goofy yet loveable younger brother. There is nothing loveable or charming about him. The housekeeper dotes on him too much too.

Tristan doesn’t know that he failed a class and didn’t graduate because his brother kept that message from him. And I think Tristan has some redeeming qualities. Besides, with James, Siegfried and Mrs. Hall all being so straight laced, a character like Tristan is needed for comic relief and to do unexpected things that drive the plot. He encourages (or tricks) the others into having fun, pursuing love and standing up for themselves. But, yes, he’s also often irresponsible and immature.

Also the 'smug satisfaction' fact does not make for a likeable character. I will say I'm not really any better at not appearing smug. By not doing anything, I can be smug just from my body language. Tristan is doing things and it seems to be smug, but at least he can turn on himself, playing around. So he still brings heart .

Tristan has improved a bit, but Mrs. Hall’s constant defence of his carelessness is annoying. She treats him like a little boy yet tells Siegfried to treat him like a man.
