Why do people like this movie?

Let me just say up front, before people star insulting me, and saying that I am a shallow minded boor: I am a lover of quirky films that are imaginative and make me think. I love movies like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Time Bandits", "Black Swan", "The Fisher King", "Jules and Jim", "A Clockwork Orange", "Harold and Maude" etc etc.

But I did not care for this movie...at all. Yes, the visuals were impressive. But the story was almost impossible to follow. It was a mess. It seemed to lack a-lot of exposition. And the dialogue was unintelligible at certain points.
I found myself not caring about the characters...they were unappealing to me. I got the impression that the story and characters were secondary to the visuals.

It was nothing but visuals and pseudo symbolism. I was sooo very glad when it was finally over.

I think that many people desperately wanted to love this movie...maybe because it was Heath Ledger's last, or because it was a Terry Gilliam movie, and he is usually brilliant But I really don't think this movie is deserving of any adoration.

Why do people like this movie? It was such a disappointment.

Why do people NOT like this movie? Why do you think those that do are 'wrong'?

a lot of people don't like it, I thought it sucked. Weird and nonsensical and it would probably would not have been that noticed had ledger not died.

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now

I'll just point out that I'm not British and I appreciate it!

I am very sure that most people that watched it, didn't do it for Ledger, but because it is a Terry Gilliam movie.

I could love it if it were only visuals and symbols.

I could love it simply for the sight of the enchanting Lily Cole. I could love it for the clever way they covered for the dead Heath Ledger. I could love it for all the acting performances. I could live it for the exploration of man's vanity. I could love it because I keep seeing more with each viewing.

I'm not sure why I love it

I've always loved good vs evil movies and it's always best when you're not sure who's on which side. This is one of those films and I'll probably it watch again.

People who don't understand the movie baffle me. I didn't even pay close attention and it made perfect sense to me. Have we become a society that everything has to be spoon-fed through our iPods and laptops before it's viable information? The title says it all. It is an "Imaginarium." Quit texting and watch and use your brain for once. And quit playing critic, trying to find something wrong and enjoy the creativity of someone else for a change.
It's a shame people can't just be innocent and open-minded when watching a film. They always have to examine every technical aspect of the film and critique the actors performance. I do that too, but not at the expense of enjoying the film. Movies are about escapism and creativity.
