This film was decent in all departments and was wrapped up in a nice little bow with a good message...

5.9 is rediculous, I must admit I let the IMDB score set the benchmark for most things I watch...(Which I have heard many times is dumb anyway)..But never again will I let that silly rating prevent me from seeing some good little films like this one.

I know! It was a really sweet movie with beautiful cinematography and believable characters and also really enjoyable to watch. It definitely deserves a higher rating.

i opened this thread because i was curious to see if the original poster was shocked that the 5.9 was low or high! lol. i watch some pretty lame shows and movies, i admit that. but this was the absolute worst movie i've ever seen... actual. and i promise i don't say that lightly. i don't post that on forums, i'm not trolling. i rarely post at all. i saw this at the theatre, and considered leaving, but didn't. mostly i just kept waiting for something to happen, because something HAS to happen!!... but guess what... it never did. hands down the worst movie i've ever seen. kinda funny that some ppl thought it was so good! just goes to show how different we all are. c'est la vie! glad you guys enjoyed it. maybe i missed something lol.

Then probably you've never seen "There's something about Mary"? And the big shame is that THAT gets a 7.1, much higher than this little gem!

There's something about Mary is a fantastic comedy.

Jack Frost is the worst movie in existence.

How nice to watch a movie that hasn't been dumbed down by the likes of Will Farrell, Seth Rogen or Zach Galifianakis.

This movie was pretty weak i think the rating is pretty spot on, i gave it a 5/10 myself. Its a ok comedy to just chill to with someone but it was overall just not funny and felt to sterile for some reason. None of the 3 actors had amazing scenes or great moments. The only scene i actually found very funny was wwhen they zoom in on Jack Blacks head and his eye starts to twitch after he finds out Steve Martins agenda.

I came to know about this movie from a Chinese business podcast. That episode is about social ecology, the podcaster drew on this movie as an example that a society needs geeky, odd, even crazy people to keep the values plural and vital, put in oversimplified words, money is not everything.

I know the reason why this great film is received very poorly by the IMDB community.

The way you describe it, 5.9 sounds about right for a "decent film". It's probably a movie you haven't thought about in years. So yeah, 5.9 sounds about right.
