Saw a Screening

It's terrible. Super predictable and by-the-numbers road trip comedy-drama except none of it's funny. The two leads are annoying and unlikable and the writing is terrible. The only parts of it that weren't painful to watch were the flashbacks with the father, but they were far in between all the awful comedic bits which felt like just filler to move the story along. It tired to get by on it being emotional but I didn't care because of how unlikable the two characters are. I'd give it a 2/10.

Fully agree with you. The brothers, as written, have no realism and no depth in them. The whole idea of a dying man concocting a scanvenger hunt for his children to bond is beyond silly. Something that makes no sense: Even if the father decides to stay in Illinois and raise son number #2, he could have still visited son #1 in Mexico and have a relationship with him. I'd give it a 1/10.
