Why is Tiffany so hung about her one night stands?

A LOT of adults in the western world have hooked up with someone they regretted hooking up with later either because they were drunk, had low self esteem at the time, etc. Tiffany moans on and on like she caught HIV from one of her rendezvous. Also, if she's supposedly so "ashamed" about what she did, why bring it up on the first date to try and titilate Pat?

What she really should be embarrassed about is the creepy love letter scheme she used to trick Pat into doing the dance competition with her, but trust Hollywood to try and pass that one off as "romantic".

I agree with you. She forged the letter and manipulated him. That's not romantic at all.

I don't think she was embarrassed or ashamed of the sexual aspect of it. She even said she likes the sloppy and dirty side of herself. I think she was ashamed of where it got her (fired). She also was doing it because maybe she felt guilty about not having more sex with her husband before he died. She feels responsible in a way because he bought her the lingerie to spark something. It got him killed. Just a thought, but I could be wrong.

Some people can randomly have sex with numerous partners and not feel a shred of shame or guilt -- good for them. But for all the sexual liberation and female liberation that's been pushed for the last half century, a lot of people end up finding out it doesn't feel so great to sleep around and be objectified. Tiffany gained a reputation for being "the easy and crazy" girl from whom nearly anyone at the office could get cheap and quick sex. Word gets around fast, she was probably constantly being asked out with the motive being clear. There's even a scene where a police officer sleazily asks her if she'd like to go out sometime despite knowing her dead husband was a cop. Additionally she was probably disturbed that she was somehow disgracing the memory of her deceased husband and the relationship they once had as a married couple. Most importantly, she wasn't enjoying having sex with anyone and everyone. She was using sex the way alcoholics use alcohol and addicts use drugs in a vain attempt to numb her pain which ironically only compounded her inner turmoil and personal suffering.

Although I definitely agree about the letter and never considered that before. Romantic by Hollywood contrivances but in the real world, I can't imagine anyone accepting or forgiving someone for manipulating someone's emotions like she did Patrick's, especially given his fragile mental condition.

Tiffany could be a very nice girl (as Pat would tell you) to be around (and Jennifer Lawrence TOTOALLY earned that Oscar, even though she was, in that veyr same year, 2012, gaining her TRADEMARK character as "The Hunger Games's" Kantiss Everdeen) but as Pat found out, and as she somewhat confessed, yes, she was wierd, even a loose chick. (And a REAL slanderer of Pat with the two S H words..sexual harrassment). But a great support of Pat's obsession with Stevie Wonder's iconic rendition of "My Cheri Amour", getting him (vs the song) to buck up, and also dispelling her own charges of harrassment. PS Jennifer Lawrence, VERY great SCREAMS there, girl! Ever seen the current "Passengers"?

It wasn't her best self. Those were signs of depression and of losing her boundaries. Her normal self wouldn't have wanted to do that. She had lost control of herself.

It wasn't about her having one-night stands, it was about how she lost control of herself. She was mentally damaged by the loss of her husband, and under the circumstances a part of her felt that her lack of sexuality caused him to be killed. She recognised how unhealthy it was to have sex with everyone like that, it was a symptom of her problems. Though the movie never explicitly spelt this out, I got the strong impression that she essentially became a sex addict, in the same way that many may turn to alcohol to cope and become alcoholics. When Nikki showed up near the end, she immediately tried to pick up a guy at the bar - that kind of dependency is never healthy.

In a nutshell, asking why she was so hung up on her one night stands is like asking why a recovering alcoholic is so hung up about their drinking.
