A movie full of men that is unapologetically masculine, devoid of any political messaging, and there are no stupid and uncessary female characters that are only there to belittle men. It feels like a minor miracle the John Wick series was made but I'm so thankful these movies exist. It's time for Hollywood to stop hating half the human race and make Action movies for men again.
sharePretty much everything you said is pure bull****. First of all, Hollywood is still run by mainly white men, most of the leads in Hollywood films are made by white men, and they are 95% of the directors/producers/writers there too. And there are plenty of female characters in action films today who are very much a part of the action----like in virtually all of the Fast and Furious films.
Oh, by the way, women like action films too----this idea that only men like action films is really dumb and outdated as hell. I'm a woman and I love action films---I've seen all the John Wick films, and liked all but the 3rd one, which also had some great stunts/action. This new John Wick film was fckg awesome with its damn incredible eye-popping stunts. I would definitely get all of these films, because they're that damn good, and because they were clearly inspired by Hong Kong action films, with their truly incredible kung-fu fighting and action scenes. And women are usually the main fighters kicking some straight-up a** in Hong Kong kung-fu action flicks, too. And each John Wick film has a female character who is essential to the plot, and can kick just as much a** as John Wick himself. I'm a woman, and I love action films. Claiming that female characters are "stupid and unnecessary" sound dumb and sexist as hell. It's usually men who write these movies who don't know how to write woman as real, complex characters, and who only write them as the stereotypical girlfriends or love interests. The JW films aren't like that, thankfully.
I don't care about other shitty actions movies that put a woman in the lead and think they are noble by showing a woman barely over 100 pounds beating up guys two to three times her size. Those movies are stupid, hateful, and offensive in the message they send to both men and women. The John Wicks are important in that men and women are portrayed correctly by their biological nature.

shareAlso, masculinity does not have to be "toxic". What's on the screen in this new John Wick isn't "toxic masculinity", it's just plain evil dudes doing evil s*** as usual in crime films. And, once again, action films are not something that only men watch. Some of half the human race (women) like action films too, and find them damn fun to watch.

shareI enjoyed the first one, and the second one to a point, but this series has devolved into a brain dead shoot-fest. You might as well just watch the Fast and the Furious series, because all you're going to get is mindless action sequences with either one. This does nothing for me anymore.
shareI think the fourth movie upped the ante on everything from the previous one. I think it was the right time to end John Wick's story but I'll glad go see whatever spinoff comes next.
