SCREW THIS!

I know that the remakes an sequels will never destroy the value of the original, but this is *beep* Who the hell do these producers think they are....

I agree, but why is Dario involved in this?

"You can take any of Green's other films, put them side by side with Argento's best work (Suspiria included) and Green's films are just overwhelmingly "better" (i don't care if Green himself disagrees). Aesthetics aside, Green's films simply offer a lot more quality than Argento's."
Are you friends with this Green guy or something, maybe a relative, his mom? That may be the one of the silliest comments I've read on this. If even he thinks Argento is better, why is he remaking it? Why doesn't he come up with an original idea.?

they do not care about the quality of the remakes, they dont care about respecting the original, they only want to make MONEY. these movie companies are money whores. just watch the black christmas remake and you will see what i mean. they took one of the best 5 scary movies ever made and butchered it with the remake. death to remakes

I do agree, most remakes suck. But if I had a chance, I would re-make the last 3 minutes of the original. It was like a horrible shame on a masterpiece. A film that runs so masterfully can't end like a scene from Evil Dead. I would just give it a more surreal/suggestive ending. The rest has absolutely no point in being remade. In fact, it cannot be re-made. Giallo has everything to do with the atmospherics, and it is not possible to bring those atmospheres back 100% in 2010.

Just to let you know, I like the idea of remakes. Sure, a whole lot of them suck, but I look forward to them regardless, looking forward to the next The Thing or Dawn of the Dead. A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite movies, and I can't wait for the remake. When I think about it, this is the only time I haven't looked forward to a remake, and that's for one reason: Suspiria is all about atmosphere. The whole point of remakes is to take a creative and original story, and infuse it with modern and local style. The fact is, Suspiria's story just isn't that good, and it's a classic because of it's incredible style. So to replace the thing that made it so good with a brand new (and likely less effective) style is just plain dumb. It would be like doing a remake of Koyaanisqatsi, it just doesn't make sense, even by the remake rules.

i agree that most remakes suck, but as a previous poster has said, the involvment of David Gordon Green is what makes me curious. most of the crappy remakes are done by nobodies but he is a supremely talented filmmaker.

these producers are guys from hollywood that have no a damn inclination of what horror movies are, whether it be fanasty thriller, horror comedy, etc. they just follow the hollywood equation of making money thats it. its a bunch of *beep* sitting in a room saying how can we make a movie with no passion but follow the equation of making a blockbuster. there is hardly any passion left in hollywood, once in a great moon a decent film is born, even in a greater sense remakes barely tantalize anyone of true horror blood. Suspiria is one of the GREATEST horror films of all time, if Dario Argento stays aboard and says screw hollywood and there antics and is not blinded by dollar signs and focuses on making a horror film with the same artistic view he did in '77 then the remake will survive and recapture the minds of the hopeless horror fans that know nothing of the nature of nitty gritty true horror masterpieces. everyting is way to commercialized. but preach on brother. ever want to talk movies, myspace.com/tyabech, [email protected]

There's no need to remake this at all. I mean, it's one of the worst ideas for a remake just because the point of the original was atmosphere, not gore and torture. Hollywood is pathetic. Make something original, or at the very least, simply rip the story off. Jesus! :P

Ironically, this film is only being remade after it has been re-released for the umpteenth time on DVD, most recently by Blue Underground. For true fans like us, it is awesome because my last copy was on VHS and my VCR broke...
But for the masses, who are you know what, this means tragedy because every shmuck in Best Buy can now get their hands on these classic Italian horror movies and to the big money producers, they just see dollar signs; now that the original "Suspiria" has been seen by every moron on the planet, they see remake. The telling sign here is that they would not remake a lesser-known Argento film, (like "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage," which would be a much more sensible film to remake,) because it wouldn't gross anything at the box office because not as many people have heard of it.
It's truly bittersweet when these classics get re-released...
