Why did the daughter tell him about...(Spoiler)?

I can see no reason to tell the father about the mother's affair since she was soon going to die. If I were the daughter and he asked me what we had fought about I would have made something up or say I had forgiven her. It just seemed so unnecessary to inflict even more pain upon him than he already had and now it mars his memories of his wife. Telling him was just cruel even if it made her feel better.

Hiding something now may seem like a good idea; however, the longer you hold onto that piece of information, the worse you will feel for holding it. When someone is about to die, all information should be brought clean so that all parties can move on from it. It is the same reason people feel bad that they could not say that one more thing, before their loved ones die. Everything should be out in the open.
