I really enjoyed this movie

It seems like a lot of people find this movie quite unfunny. I couldn't disagree more! I laughed non-stop throughout the movie. The jokes really got to me, the acting was above average, the script was suprisingly good and the storyline was ok. I think this movie deserves 7/10 stars. Apparently, I am one of very few people who found this movie very enjoyable...and that's strange.

I recently caught it on HBO and I pleasantly surprised. It wasn't "fall out of my seat" funny but it was entertaining. It reminded me of the 80's teen movies I used to love so much (which is when I was a teenager).

My one complaint is that they insisted on bringing the boyfriend back just once more. When he showed up in the locker room I remember thinking "it's enough already". Aside from that one small gripe it was a cool little movie.

If it pays right and it's legal, I'll do it.

I found this movie to be extremely painfully to watch, one of those movies where you just cringe during every seen because the writing and jokes are so awful and immature. Teen movies can be quite good when actual effort is put into the screenplay.

And looking at the main character's nose for an hour and a half made me very angry. That was one ugly face to have to watch for a whole movie.

Thanks ... I thought that I was the only one here enjoying this movie.

I gave it a 9. Funny film that made me laugh and smile all the way.

I totally agree (and I'm in my early 20s). I watched the film on cable by accident and found it wistfully evoked those wonderfully cheesy '80s teen films. When I came on online and found out how many people DIDN'T watch the film I was disappointed. It's not perfect; it is messy, but there's something organic in its messiness which makes it work. Loved it!

to me, this is one of those movies that really isnt very good, but i still really enjoyed. I think the movie effected me differently than most though. While i found the movie to be funny, i thought alot of the 'funny' scenes were (may or may not have been intentional) rather sad. While the acting was nothing amazing, Dennis was a sad character, and that really got me.

I really liked that he was kind of a 'real' person, a person we've all gone to school with.

And the ending i thought was great, even if the rest of the movie didnt exist, the final scene with Beth dropping him off at home was great. The simple dialogue was moving and perfect for the scene. The ending was also a sad one to me, i really cant place my finger on it, but just the whole dynamic of the movie, what he goes through because he loves this girl he barely knows, and for it to end the way it does, i dont know, it stuck with me.

So, even though the movie is no 'oscar film' i still enjoyed it greatly.

I've read the book, right now I'm watching the movie (though unfortunately I came in halfway through, so I'm glad I have the book background to keep me from being confused). I personally really enjoyed the book, and I know the author was invited to do the screenplay, so I'm assuming I'll enjoy the movie.

My twin brother and I both went and saw this movie on our 19th birthday and ever since it has been one of our all time faves this movie is a great throwback to all the great teen movie classics and is a perfectly crafted film for its genre. We watch it at least 10 times a year, no joke. Plus Hayden Pennetierre is fine as hell in this film. We actually recently introduced our 12 year old nephew to the film and we watched it with him and he loved it. Its great to see that others like this film for the right reasons too.

I liked it too, but the lead was a little too pathetic, i mean we have seen the cute lovable loser in many films but it was bit too much this time

I really like this movie. Having seen many teen comedies, from the '80s and onwards, this one stands out. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's a fun teen comedy with a heart. Some poignant moments are lines such as "she's not beth cooper" and "thank you for loving me", one sad and one happy.

Also, the moment when the girls are cheering in the gym, everything slows down and Beth looks all around as if she's leaving behind the best years of her life. This is something most of us can relate to. I personally had a rather "dull" time in high school, in terms of the parties, the glory, etc. But even I look back and miss it. You know the Aerosmith line "You don't know what you got 'til it's gone." While this is in reference to a relationship, I think it can easily be applied to a moment. Sometimes we are making the best memories of our lives and at the time we don't even realize it, until those moments are long gone.

Anyway, I thought it was a sweet movie and pretty funny. Enjoyed all the movie references. Beth cooper was the highlight, portraying both beauty and warmth. The lead was a little nerdier than he had to be, but oh well, it worked.
