disgusted by the marine

i'm not a serviceman, but i found it ill that they would have a marine go so far as to beat up a geek at a high-school party. none of the respected military people i know would stoop so low. maybe i'm loooking too much into it, it is a dumb movie, but for them to have a MARINE act like that disdains in my opion the men and wome who serve.

I have to agree with the last post. There are always certain things that Hollywood will show on screen that has nothing to do with real life. One of those things is the negative view towards people in the service. They are always viewed as crazed people who love violence. Really sad.

One the other hand, in 30 years movie critics might cite this scene as the depiction of society's view on war in Iraq or War on Terror in general... like it was with Vietnam back in the day

reply

no one will be watching this movie in 30 years-they aren't watching it now!

I guess in the real world there is no need for MPs, no need for the uniform code of military justice, and no need for military prisons, as everyone who joins the military is an exemplary person and not a single one of them is off of their rocker or ever commits a crime. I'm really glad to know that is true.

reply

None of the marines I know have ever caused harm to another person.

reply

Ok, so you know ten marines. How about the 100,000 others?

reply

ok, so the thousands of military people in jail for violence aren't real? shakes head

reply

These were US Army Infantry Soldiers, who have seen combat clearly visible by their CIB (Combat Infantry Badge). I agree with you a little but then again in all branches of service including Marines and Army you have some dicks and second its a freaking movie.

reply

"second its a freaking movie."

Hey Captain Obvious sneaking one dumbass comment in under the moron radar! Good job idiot. The thread is about a film's negative unrealistic portrayal and you're contribution to the discussion is that it is, indeed, a film. Wow.

reply

He was a douche, im sure he wasn't put in the movie to make every marine look like a douche too, its just one person and not to mention the fact he was on coke too which obviously made him psycho.

reply

Marines are human just like everyone else. The vast majority of Marines and other servicemen are fine people, but there are a few jerks among them.

WHO ordered the code red!!!! no Marines don't do anything bad to others weaker than themselves.

reply

He was a disgrace to other marines as well. He has no honor.

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.

reply

no marines in the movie

reply

You obviously don't know any military people. Rape is a huge problem in the military and many thousands of military men have broken the law and gone to prison (hint-military people are just people-bad apples in every group)

reply

It's just a movie. It's not real
