Impulse Control episode airing 4/18/22
This scene opens with an altercation at a pseudo-MacDonalds. While the gentleman who gets stuck in the service window.
I worked customer service for 40 years. The restaurant employee's first mistake when the customer says he ordered a 12 piece and only got a 9 should have been "I'm terribly sorry sir. Let me correct that at no charge.", not "No, you ordered a 9 piece, and we're out of nugs" That would get him a written warning at least.
When the customer insisted his wife wanted the 12 piece, the boy says "She doesn't need 12 pieces." That would have gotten him fired.
Until that point the customer had been a bit difficult, but not abusive. While associates do not have to put up with abuse, and I kicked out customers from my store when they were, the customers also deserve respect. We are there to serve them.
This attitude seems endemic these days. Sarcasm and abuse from both sides of the counter.
