Creature's Origin

**************POSSIBLEL SPOILER ALERT**********************

My main complaint is they never tell from where the creature came? Was it an alien life form, a biological experiment released into the open, or a mutation of nature? Our biologist "hero" never gave any theories on what it was, probably because he wasn't qualified anyway. Otherwise the movie was entertaining and better than some of the major sci-fi/horror movies being produced. If they decide to do a sequel, as was hinted at the end, I hope they bring in a character who will explain what the creature really is.

Ok, so I am bit late to the conversation, but what the hay.

Yeah, do a sequel where the creature's origins are explained then have a twist at the end where the theory is proven completely wrong; therefore leaving the audience with the same uncertainty. Regards!

reply

I agree with others that giving an explanation has done more harm than good to horror films, but I wouldn't be totally against your idea of a sequel where they give an explanation only find out that they were totally wrong. They would just have to handle both the explanation and the twist very well, or they'd end up pissing off all the fans of the first movie.

A boat that floats on water can also sink in it.

reply

a good explanation would be that it is an alien lifeform that came down with a crashed satellite which it stuck to for the slightest be of heat or even somehow got stuck to a meteor

reply

Same here, some basic story would have been appreciated.
Things just happen without any explaination; it's no good.
The creature was amazing, but there wasn't any info about it.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

reply

Obviously, such a quickly-devouring everything organism cannot survive without destroying its entire environment and finally itslef too, this planet or other planet. There is no explanation, simply because there could not possibly be one.

reply

Creature's origins can wait until Splinter 4 ;)

Hope they will make a splinter 2 with the same Director.

Please 3D. Get old!

Who cares? Use your imagination. It was quite refreshing because all movies for the last few years just feel the need to overexplain everything. It just give you what you need to know to follow the plot. Was lack of creature origin in Tremors really that distracting? That movie doesn't tell you anything beside how creatures find their victims. Like this one. That's all you need to know really.

Well he gave you his theory which is "I have no f* idea". How did you miss that?

Gods no. No prequel. No overexplaining in sequel if it ever happens (but I doubt it).

I know this thread is kind of old, but I felt a need to respond anyways.

Who cares? Well obviously the OP does. And to be frank, so do I. I can always enjoy a good horror movie with or without any sort of convoluted explanation to the origin of a monster or disaster, but with that being said, I am the kind of person who enjoys a explanation of the mechanics of the movie, back stories and origins.

I've always wanted to know more. A great example is Evil Dead, I'd love to know more about the Necronomican, what the pages actually say, the history behind it, ect. For Return of the Living Dead, I'd love to know more about the chemical and it's history that is used to reanimate the dead.

So when you ask "who cares?", there's plenty of people do, you don't need to come off as an aggressive twat criticizing someone for asking a question.

reply

Nah I defo agree with the OP.

It finished and left me thinking well wtf was it then?? What was the point??
