People trying to pass this vile trash of as art.

It's f/cking laughable, but at the same time very disturbing. We're getting to the point with movies that we have become so desensitized to vile behaviour that we'll give the most outrageous excuses to justify the violence. There is no plot to this movie, the ending even seemed tacked on as a way to try and justify the sadistic grotesqueness of this movie. The director himself even stated he was inspired in to making this movie after seeing Hostel. In other words he was thinking to himself "I want to make an even sicker film than Hostel and I'll worry about the plot later".

I love horror and I've seen all the sick sh/t you can think of, Salo, Serbian film, men behind the sun, man bites dog, but none of those movies angered me as much as this nonsense.

The cretins who praise this movie will try to pass of anything off as "art". It'll get to the point were in twenty years from now these same morons will become so accustomed to this kind of vile nonsense that they will start defending real torture porn.

Pretty much. These are the same sorts of people who try to argue that Uwe Boll's Rampage movies are high art because it panders to their sociopathic nihilism.

Slippery slope fallacy 101.

Violence has existed in art from the beginning of time. I'm also seriously confused as to how you use Salo and A Serbian Film as points to of comparison to say that this film is so much worse in terms of onscreen violence.

I think the real issue here is that you had an extreme reaction to the movie that those others didn't elicit, and that's part of why people find the film powerful—it's dispiriting and horrendous, but it gets under your skin in ways that crap like A Serbian Film cannot.

It's kind of funny how you're okay with a film where a baby is raped to death and someone has their eye socket penetrated by a penis but a film like Martyrs -- which for all intents and purposes isn't that gory compared to other horror films -- is where the line is crossed.

well, the OP does not differentiate between Salo, Serbian film, men behind the sun, man bites dog, hostel and martyrs, so what do you expect? ;)

he could as well have thrown flower of flesh and blood, all night long and august underground into that.

because, yeeeah, facking pasolini is the same as eli roth. xD
