UNHAPPY endings?

I remember that year Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached came out at the same time. I was SOOOO pissed. Casual relationships don't end that way.

Even the end of Sex and the City pissed me off. You will not end up with the aloof guy.

And I can't believe even Girls disappointed me. Adam would not be aloof and then be in a relationship with Hannah.

I wish there were more movies that would be more realistic like 500 Days of Summer. If there are, I'd like to watch them.

Check out Knocked Up. Its a very different kind of comedy, but it also tries to show something realistic. Also About Time is very similar and really good

I wouldn't count this as an unhappy ending, in much the same way that Gregory's Girl and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (both films 500 DoS borrows a lot from) aren't unhappy endings. 'Not wrapped up in a bow with sugar on top' is perhaps more accurate.

Watch Prime starring Uma Thurman, Bryan Greenberg, and Meryl Streep. It's an amazing movie, one of my favourites!

Annie Hall is a romantic comedy that has a bittersweet ending. As a matter of fact, 500 Days of Summer seems to have been inspired by Annie Hall, with the non-linear narrative and the similar endings.

It is not "realistic" in Terms of Setting because it has a sci-fi Thing going but try Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
It is my favorite to this day.

well the movie that influenced this movie the most, annie hall, has a realistic ending

An older film from the 80s, but you might like The Last American Virgin. If you can find it anywhere, that is!
