I dont find this movie believable at all and wonder why Joseph Gordon-Levitt was chosen to play the lead role. I think he was strongly miscast, and I didnt believe for one second that Summer would like he. He looked too boyish and homely for her.

I'm a guy, and I agree. He's charming, charismatic, has eyes like Heath Ledger.
In reality, he might be out of ZD's league.
I'm with you. If assessing it from a looks standpoint only, I believe JGL would be a little outside ZDs league.
However, looks (at least for me) are only a small part of attraction and JGL and ZD are not wildly mismatched.
@ OP - Geoffrey Arend (McKenzie) is married to Christina Hendricks and that's IRL so it shouldn't be so hard to picture JGL and ZD as a couple in fiction.

Um hell yes. He is adorable. I think they are both equally attractive. Yes he was boyish but a lot of girls like that. Not all of us want a male slut.
shareMiss, I kinda get where you're coming from with this. I don't get all the JGL love. I'm a straight guy, but I'm in touch with my feminine side enough to be able to evaluate guys' looks, and JGL just doesn't do it for me.
But, having said that, I have learned to understand women's love for guys like him. There is something about guys with squinty eyes that a lotta women seem to go for. Heath Ledger was a prime example of this, although I think he was actually good looking.
Regardless, I think JGL's character agreed with you completely - JGL's character fully knows that there was no way that he should have been able to get ZD. Which is exactly why he was literally dancing in the streets the day after their first night together. He knew it.

are you crazy? yea he's miscast but not because he's too ugly. he's miscast because he's way too handsome to act like that. a guy that looks like him would have women all over him all the time. he wouldn't be pining over one girl.
