This is the whitest movie I've ever seen.

And I don't mean that in terms of racial diversity on screen - though the only non-whites in the movie were the baggage handler extras. No, the real whiteness of this movie shines through with numerous and seemingly endless shots of American flags, the abundant presence of men wearing cowboy hats, Pontiac's blunt product placement shot on the highway (the irony), and scenes and dialog that have been resuscitated from the 50's.

Yep. You are right - it is pretty darn white. It happens. I gotta say that I hadn't noticed. I think though, the "cowboy" hats were primarily at the VFW, in a predominatly white town (not racist town, just a predominatly white town). I was not aware that flags and pontiacs were synonomous with white. And if you mean by 50's dialog that it was positive and meaningful without rancor - you are also correct.

That doesn't mean that it isn't a movie for all races to enjoy or appreciate.

As others have mentioned, The lady that took care of/cleaned his remains wasn't white as well as the guy who told them how to travel with/care for the remains wasn't white. And if I'm remembering correctly, the lady that checked him in at the airport and bumped him to first class wasn't white.

And yes, wearing cowboy hats is still a common thing in certain areas of the country no matter what your skin color is.

I guess you didn't notice the military members in Dover who were not white? At least a half dozen with speaking parts?

I don't think to be honest that this was the focus of the movie, it's main focus was on the dignity of the occasionSource:Movie Reviews - Taking Chancehttp://moviereviews.noskram.com/2009/09/movie-reviews-for-taking-chanc e

Please the movie is not racist at all. But you must be racist by bringing up the race card. I have seen plenty of "black" movies that have no "white" people in them, where is your complaint then. its all reverse racism nowadays.
