Michael Shannon stole this movie.

The guy was brilliant, he was playing something I've never seen him play before, just perfect casting, you could base an entire film around him doing that character and it would be brilliant.

Whenever he was on screen, he was just so magnetic that it stole the movie away from everyone else.

I completely agree. He nailed being Kim Fowley. I couldn't take my eyes off him when he was on screen.

Funny thing regarding the song "Cherry Bomb". Whenever I've listened to it, I've always thought it sounded like it should be sung by a very flamboyant gender bender type of male. Then I saw this movie, with the scene where Shannon was writing the song, and it appears my original impression was correct. No offense to anyone intended.

Agreed! I watch crap films like this only to see Michael Shannon act.

Michael Shannon is the sh*t. He's fantastic in everything, especially Take Shelter and Bug.

I was blown away when I realized he's only 39 years old (I thought he was late 40s). So he was 2 years younger than Eminem during the filming of 8 Mile! (He played Eminem's mom's abusive boyfriend.) He has a depth and presence that can't be denied. One of the best actors working, easily.

I don't come from hell. I came from the forest.
