What's the consensus on this?

My trial for Disney+ ended a while back and didn't bother to renew given there were only but so many shows that I'd be interested in. Every now and then I see shows that peak my interest like this one. I've read a number of Marvel's What If? comics dating back to the 70s and remember them for being extremely dark. Is this show anything like them? I'm gonna guess no considering the Disney cheese factor that's applied to the MCU in general.

not worth it.

Care to elaborate?

It's hit or miss, exactly like the comic. Of the six I saw I'd say two of them are really dark so far and my favorites.

I suggest waiting until the season is over, sign up for a month, and watch them all then. I think the last episode is in early October.

Cool. Thanks!

If you read the What If? comics, you basically know what to expect. Some episodes are really good and others are pretty meh. Some are really dark, others are just fun superhero stories, and a couple are funny.

I watched the first four episodes. Honestly I don't care for it. They seem to be making spoofs of Marvel stories rather than honestly explore what could really happen if something changes.

2 episodes are really good, the rest have been borderline boring and/or stupid. I will give them credit on a few episodes most definitely not having a Disney feel to it. Personally I think the "what if" concept struggles when you are only able to use the MCU and not comic source material. Since we are so limited on what we actually see between the characters, there just isn't a lot of crossover storylines to play off of. It makes writing it easy I guess, because nobody can really critique you with contrary source material.
