Thoughts on the score?

Hearing synths took me out. Too modern for a ww1 movie.

reply

I really liked it. It sounded very ominous which I thought suited the movie well. But I can see how it might feel to modern to someone.

reply

I agree, it was very good.

reply

Agreed 100%. It just came out of the blue and sounded like the synthesizers from close encounters of the third kind

reply

Close encounters? It didn't have that effect as something strange, but that effect of some video game soundtracks, like a first person shooter. I was reminded of its tunneling music.

reply

Ya - I was thinking of Aliens appearing as well.

reply

The synth score was terrible, and completely out of place.

reply

I didn't mind the soundtrack. It's a sort of war drum effect. You hear the inevitable drums of war. I kinda liked the risk they took with it.

Now, the pacing of the movie was terrible and ruined an amazing looking film.

reply

It worked very well in "Chariots of Fire", another period film. I'm willing to give it a chance in this one.

reply

Loved it, thought it was perfect for the film

reply

I liked it. Does not have to be yet another boring orchestra.

reply

I thought the score was atrocious. I was flabbergasted to discover that it had won the Oscar.
