A Little Sleazy?....

I have no problem with gays , lesbians or whatever minority group you could mention and I really wanted to enjoy this film , which I did , but was alarmed at watching the apparent ' Sleazy ' way in which Harvey Milk and indeed a lot of the other Gay men were portrayed in this film....the way he picks his first partner up in a subway and sleeps with him immediately...not even knowing his name!...the way he repeats these actions almost identically with his second lover....For a person of any sexual orientation these actions are not those of somebody with respect for themselves or indeed others feelings or health...I also felt Milk was portrayed almost as some kind of ' sexual predator ' with sex on his mind all of the time , wether he was really like that or not I dont know but its actions like those that would encourage animosity towards any minority group!

No different than straight folks meeting at a bar and going home together.

The movie took place over the course of many years. Much happened other than sex.

Remember too that it was the 1970's. The Sexual Revolution was in full swing. It wasn't just gay people who were promiscuous.

Funny--there are a lot of straight men who argue that this is the ideal situation, and that it is how most straight men would act too if only most women weren't standing in the way of it. I am not necessarily saying that I agree with this opinion, but I have heard it from a lot of straight men who envy gay men's opportunities to act in a way that they see as sexually "normal" for all men.

GOD, BRING BACK THE 70s!!!

Where did these people get the idea that there is "self-respect" in not getting laid?

Snobbery is a form of romanticism, the chastity of the perfectionist

Yeh, straight people are just as sleazy.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

As a heterosexual, the first time watching gay men kiss can be uncomfortable, however, I find rest of your post to be emblematic of someone not understanding that those things happen in the heterosexual world, too. Maybe you need a trip to a bar or a dance not held in Kansas!

but put yourself in his shoes

Well how many gay people get action versus the straight males?
