are you kidding me? this has the same exact title as the first movie in this series

my favorite movie review book that i've had for many years was where i found out about the and a at the beginning of movie titles. that book said that movie titles that begin with the or a are categorized and alphabetized starting with the word directly after the or a.

so when they stupidly tried to make a different title out of the stupid movie fast and the furious than the fast and the furious because they don't have the originality and creativity and imagination to think of a subtitle or a different title than fast and the furious, and they thought they did something creative and different by making it one less word, the, they actually didn't because in a movie review book like mine the fast and the furious is going to be listed as fast and the furious too.

how dumb and uncreative of them. also, it's just a movie title, like how hard is it to think of an original movie title?

reply

Not really. Using "the" turns the adjective into a noun and makes the title in reference to people, as in "the guys that are fast and the guys that are furious". "Fast & furious" uses adjectives as they are, a description, and can describe anything in this movie: people, cars, sex, bullets...

reply

that's not my point. my point has to do with movie rules in relation to a movie title.

reply

That rule is for finding movies easier. Do you know how many movies and TV shows start with "a" and "the"? So, instead of listing it as, eg., "The Americans", they list it as "Americans, The"

reply

why would that be easier to find it?

reply

Like I said - do you know how many movies and TV show start with an article?

reply

what i mean is what point were you trying to make? i don't understand it. can you explain it please? how does changing the order of the title words make it easier to find? a lot.

reply

The method you were describing was created before computers. Imagine how big the section in a book or how many filing cabinets you'd need if you cataloged movies starting with an article. This way, you spread them out and the video you were looking for becomes easier to find.

reply

that's how it is. it starts with the first word after a or the.

reply

I know it is, and I'm explaining to you why. This method is used for practical reasons and completely disregards whether or not it changes the meaning of a title, as it does in this case.

reply

what do you mean?

reply

Are you kidding me? Read my first reply.

reply

i did and i still don't understand what you mean? so what do you mean?

reply

“Dumb and uncreative” describes the whole series, so why are you surprised? I also agree with beauq81. Unless you’re ee cummings, you should learn capitalization before you delve into the finer points of grammar and literacy.

reply

fuck you

reply

Yeah but all these novies are exactly the same , so its quite fitting.

also , didnt Rocky & Rambo do the same thing?

reply

Fast Five is no where the same thing as The Fast and the Furious.

reply

The Fast and the Furious - moving highway robbery using little hatchbacks
Fast Five - towing a bank vault around town using 2 muscle cars

Both completely ludicrous car based robbery tomfoolery
equals: the same

reply

Maybe from an absolutely basic point of view.

How about Tokyo Drift and The Fate of the Furious?

reply

Taking out "The" in the beginning of the title doesn't make them the same though still. The first one was called The Fast and the Furious. Take out "The" and it's still Fast and the Furious. This installment is just called Fast and Furious. Actual fans know the difference.

reply

dude do you seriously think people can know the difference and remember which movie is which when there is only one word difference in these titles? and it's the most unmeaningful and pointless word the?

reply

If they're fans? Yes. I do and I wouldn't even consider myself a huge fan.

reply

my point is the only reason anyone knows the difference between those two movies by their titles is by memory, not by knowing the difference in the movies based off of the titles because the titles difference is meaningless and pointless, it's just the word the. so it's less than semantics even.

reply

I think they did it on purpose as something of a soft reboot for the franchise. Starting with this movie, they became action films and not car culture films.

reply

but how does one word, the signify that?

reply

This guy OP made two threads on the exact same topic for a movie that came out 10 years ago, like who gives a sh**. It's not a big deal kid
