Why did Ed...? *Spoilers*

Why did Ed leave Cheryl behind? My guess is that he got tired of her. Also, what was with the blood stain on the wall when the swat team breaks into the house?

To show everyone how sick he was. He knew that she was full on in love with him now and actually is devoted to him, and everyone would see that if he set her free.

Yes, a horrible case of Stockholm Syndrome.

He knew how she felt, he knew she would commit suicide, it was another part of his plan, he liked to use different methods of 'murder' e.g. using the judicial system to kill the cop.

Plus, he came back and got her. Dug her up and took her body, just in case her poor friends and family weren't *beep* enough.

When he left Cheryl behind, he also left the tapes for the police

He wanted people to see his work. Cheryl offered a way for people to see what he did . The doctor could reveal her physical injuries, and the interviewers could reveal her mental disintegration.

Through Cheryl, people saw what he could do to people
