Who watches this shit but people doing an English course?
Same thing as people giving Dante's inferno a go or doing a pilgrimage.

shareShakespeare's stories are classics because they are indeed classic stories.
They have characters and plots that are interesting and entertaining.
I haven't seen this one yet but I intend to watch it. And while I'm here I'll also recommend Kenneth Branagh's four-hour rendition of Hamlet.
Bwaagh! Alright, alright I'll watch it.
shareDo people still read classic literature in school? I thought they just read those books about sad misfit teenagers.
shareI hope not. I don't mind the idea of schools studying more popular literature in addition to older things, but studies should include a variety of works, most of them should be deemed important by scholars, historians, and literary connoisseurs, and all of them should have some sort of merit or value.
Oh, and Shakespeare needs to be taught from a performance/theatre perspective, not (just) as literature or poetry. I've spoken to so many frustrated people who got turned off of Shakespeare because they were taught by somebody treating it as pure literature, and it was never designed that way. Read it, hear it - that's the way. Pour over the text, yes, but not just that.
Your comment isn't even in English..... which actually explains why you don't understand Shakespeare.
Most people try to hide their lack of breeding or education; you wear it as a badge of honor.
