Anthony

Can someone explain the appeal of Anthony? He says terrible, hurtful, vicious things but the girls seem to love him.

He insulted Carrie's original wedding dress choice - she didn't mind.

He threatened to break the arm of a baby shower guest for not using a coaster - Carrie thanks him and high fives him for this rude treatment of her guest.

Seeing Samantha, he outrageously blurts out, 'Mother of God, what's with the gut?" Not only is he a terrible friend for saying this - Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte are terrible friends for allowing him to treat Samantha that way.

He just seems like such a petty, mean-spirited person.

Anthony has the balls to say what everyone doesn't. I don't think that Carrie 'didn't mind' she was taken aback by Charlotte and Anthony's reaction to her suit dress.

Anthony is a guy you take with a grain of salt, I'm sure most of us know people like him and maybe even are friends with people like that.

You can call me 'Mayor Chapstick.'

What is the worst is the way he crushed Stanford's poor little heart at the fashion show. But he is very, very devoted to Charlotte, and I can't recall him ever saying anything mean to her. He was worried he was going to lose her when she got married..

I love Anthony, though!

Actually, I recently re-watched that episode and Stanford had absolutely no interest in him either and they were both annoyed with Charlotte for thinking that just because they were both gay that meant that they would be interested in each other. Stanford wasn't crushed at all, he was just a bit peeved and also somewhat frustrated at the fact that 'even the guys he didn't like weren't interested' (or something along those lines). So that was fairly mutual.

Agreed! He's so lovely to her all the time. I watched the episode where Trey and Charlotte finally/officially split up and she's about to do the photo shoot at her home and he's just so supportive and kind to her and he builds her up when she's worried about doing the shoot alone (before Trey shows up) by saying she's incredible.

I love Anthony too!

He says what must of us are afraid to say. I think he is a great friend.

No he doesn't. He was a queeny little bitch. If I were Samantha, I would have punched him.

I know gay men like Anthony. Who "just tell it how it is". But it's really an excuse to be an asshole. In reality, it's because gay men were treated and judged badly through childhood. So they're sort of lashing out in their adult lives. But it's not mature, cute or funny.

Anthony was my least favorite SATC character next to Big. The latter being a dull, lifeless rock with no personality but plenty of money. That was the ideal NYC man I guess. Anthony, on the other hand, was just a cliche of how Queens act. His comments about Carrie's original wedding dress were lucrative and uncalled for. And again- his comment about Samantha's weight gain (which was a lie to begin with) would have had me asking him to get his fruity ass out of my apartment.

And who gives a shit if he was "nice to Charlotte". I hate people who justify that someone can be a jerk because "they're still nice to that one person." No, it's called being an adult.

I wish Stanford had gotten better lines in the movie. He had so many great ones on the series (eg "Oh my God, she's fashion road kill!") He was more rounded as a gay character. Anthony was just as shallow as the handbags and coasters he wanted others to adorn.

I totally blame Anthony for the 'left at the altar' debacle. I loved Carrie's wedding suit, and thought it was perfect for her wedding to Big. But I think his comments (seriously, shut up Anthony!) are what planted the seed of Carrie wanting to have a huge wedding, leading to Big's cold feet.

I know the show is all about 'labels and love', but how shallow to insult someone's choice of wedding suit, that she obviously loves, just because it's 'by no one'. Ugh. Haaaaaaate him.

But it was explained the wedding grew because Carrie unexpectedly got a one-of-a-kind designer dress for free, Anthony had nothing to do with it.

He gets things done and is good at his job.
