Definitely biased

I saw Kevin Spacey, Jeffrey Toobin and David Boies interviewed on The Charlie Rose Show a few night before HBO premiered this movie, and they insisted - insisted! - that "Recount" was fair to both sides. I just finished watching the movie and it was probably one of the most biased movies I've ever seen in my life.

I don't think there was one scene in the entire movie that showed (a) the Democrats in a bad light, or (b) the Republicans in a good one. I challenge anyone reading this post to find one scene anywhere in the movie that proves me wrong.

By the way, yes I'm a Republican. And since I know I'm going to get kicked around on this thread, let me say in advance: "Sticks & stones, etc. . ."

You don't need to watch this movie to see the outcome of the election 2000 and the legacy of your George Bush that in 8 years brought this country to its knees. You don't need to be biased to see the facts of Bush years, from 911 to Iraq invasion based on a lie that is a well known fact today, recession and the highest deficit in trillions of dollars in the entire history of United States record set by George Bush. What took place in the election of 2000 changed the course route of this country, so the movie maybe biased but can you ignore the facts as to why the Republicans faught so hard to stop the recount?. I don't kick you because you are a republican but at least try to see the truth for yourself of the wreckage that Bush left behind in his 8 years of hell as president, the entire world hated us because of his actions, thousands of innocent American soldiers lost their lives for a illegal war and lies, the people of Iraq are no better off than when Saddam was in power today. I I challenge to share with us all what good came out of the Bush years ?

I enjoyed the movie -- but not NEAR as much as I did watching the nightly cable news shows in Nov/Dec 2000! What an amazing part of history. Truth really is stranger and more dramatic than anything Hollywood could portray.

Clearly the producers and actors are mostly liberal and were biased, but as a conservative I was impressed that they covered the republican side fairly well. They showed Bush campaign in fairly positive light:
1. That when the networks called florida and the US election for Gore, the western panhandle counties vote turnout collapsed costing Bush thousands of votes.
2. Gore clearly lost the moral high ground twice: first when he asked only for recounts in the most liberal counties and second when he tried to get the military absentees tossed (not every vote counts I guess).
3. The Fla supreme court and the liberals (esp Souter) on the USSC were in the bag for Gore.

The most biased parts?
1. I think the portrayal of Katherine Harris was unfair. Laura Dern made her look like a babbling idiot. She wasn't.
2. From an historical perspective, my biggest beef was that the implied that the 7-2 equal protection ruling SUPPORTED Gore.... but it was just the opposite. The 7-2 vote stated that the Gore/Florida SC haphazard standards violated equal protection clause. The 5-4 ruling that liberals like to toss around was just about the remedy. Gore really lost 7-2.
