yet to be mentioned, "it's our time down here" - the Goonies
shareI'm fairly certain they reference "300" in an episode. Cappie gives a speech and Rusty says "Isn't that the beginning of 300?" And Cappie gets all defensive and says something like "They stole it from us!"
I married a moose. We don't need counseling.~ Eric Matthews
The final assassin episode had a scene that took the original guns scene from the Matrix.
shareSeason 1, Ep 4. Reference - Braveheart.
Cappie: He's right! You may not be feeling well. Some of you are even still drunk! But I see before me a team of Kappa Tau's, playing in defiance of tyranny. You've come to fight as free men, and free men you are. Will you fight? Ay, fight and you might die. Run and you might live, atleast for a while.
The Beaver: It hurts real bad, Cap.
Cappie: Drunk people don't feel pain! And neither do Scotsmen. We may be puking, but the Omega Kai's are not used to running on puke like we are! And Rusty here... Look at him, just a nice kid from Cleveland...
Rusty Cartwright: Chicago...
Cappie: And I know that when he's dying in his bed many years from now, he be willing to trade all his days from this day, for one chance...
Rusty Cartwright: I'm actually fine...
Cappie: Just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies, that they may take our lives, but they will never be able to take our freedom! Yeah!!
Sidney Bristow and Alias get referenced a couple of times.
shareAshleigh once said Casey was acting like "Felicity" as in the main character in the popular late 90s show.
Also Ashleigh said she lost out on a promotion to a cast member of The City and Casey assumed it was Whitney Port.
Casey was bummed out about the internship because people kept calling her "Elle Woods"
Psycho girl Natalie told some bogus story about her dad dying on Chrismas Eve and Ashleigh rightfully called it out as the story the girl told on Gremlins.
Just got secretly engaged to the best guy ever!!
In the episode about the Basketball Ticket Lottery, Dean Bowman is driving home a woman named Sloane, which is the name of the female lead in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (which the actor who plays Dean Bowman was also in).
shareJust started watching this on Netflix & am only through Season 1 but two quickies that have not been mentioned:
At the end of episode 1.3 where Evan & Casey are talking in the hotel room after the Armed Forces themed dance, Evan asks “You wanna see if Frazier’s on?” which is funny cause… you know, that’s her dad.
In episode 1.9 where Rusty and Jen K are trying to schedule “alone” time Jen gripes about her agoraphobic roommate and says “It’s like living with Lonelygirl15” which is a nice pop reference as she (Jessica Rose) was Bree on LG15.
Looking forward to the next 3 seasons.
"Nobody ends up being what they really want - it's part of life. It's called growing up"
when the engineering kids threw a crazy party dale and cappie are bonding drunkenly and become "best friends" and cappies was like "ya, cap & dale!" a reference to chip & dale?
and uhm the fact that the band that usually plays on the show is the plain white t's...one episode cappie makes fun of them like "ya...maybe its time you guys break up...youre never gonna beecome big and famous" ..or something like that
