The reason being is it was standalone and understood the character. Was it a masterpiece no but it was a good film.

They already blew the novelty of having the big three work together in BvS and got a huge opening there but it had no legs to stand on due to being a disaster of a movie and now they've just got nothing left to sell people on. About the only thing they can do to make Justice League live up to what it should've been is drop it and start doing some serious retooling of the idea... but more likely they'll probably just go, "Oh, what, you didn't want to see Justice League? Well how about if we add that guy from that bomb of a movie we put out in 2011!"
