WB is afraid that Thor will outperform Justice League This Weekend

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj352lZxI8g

What an embarrassment.

A Thor movie [who?] outperforming the Justice League.

reply

ya i read and posted this yesterday...

based on the numbers its a done deal...JL is going to lose to Thor 3 in every way....

The Ultimate Embarrassment

You got a movie like JL that absolutely should be competing with Avengers films+numbers and Yet it can't even compete with A Thor solo film

what makes it SO MUCH worse....Is JL is in direct competition with Thor 3....you have 2 films, 2 superhero movies, Made by The Ultimate Rival Studios and Brands, released at nearly the exact same time....and Thor 3 is just WINNING

hhis is worse than when Civil War destroyed BvS....

those 2 movies were forever LINKED due to WB's decision to try and "Muscle" Marvel Studios out of the May 6th 2016 release date.....WB literally started A release date War With Marvel Studios and then hilariously Packed up and ran away...

Both BvS and CW, were linked, Both wanted the same release date, Both had extremely simlar Hero Vs Hero concepts, Both being released at nearly the same time....In the end....Civil War won in every possible way....

Now its happened again with JL and Thor 3 but worse....

reply

Nice reference to Civil War vs BvS. And quite on point.

Yeah it's goddamn embarrassing a Thor [who?] movie is about to kick 4 of the most well known Superheroes in their teeth [I discount Cyborg as a well known character; don't really believe he is that known outside the comics comunity].

Let's see what will happen when Deadpool 2 releases. I'm quite curious to know how well it will perform.

“[Superman] is the freaking […] biggest superhero on the planet. He’s the father of every superhero. [Deborah and I] were just talking about this – I’m like, really? Thor? Thor has a movie? [Laughter.] Really? I mean, come on. And there’s no Superman movie? This is, like, the world’s out of balance. It’s like, we’ve lost our minds here, people, come on.”

funny article from 2011....where Snyder laughed at the thought of a Thor movie.....lol If he only knew the future back then

ahah classic

Deadline just adjusted UP their domestic projection based on matinee sales

^^^^^^^^^^^^

where did you see this...Im still seeing the same 110 to 115 Million Projection?

I havent seen anyone report Matinee sales yet

reply

The top of their page. They describe international as "hot".

reply

They have removed 110 '115 million domestic and now confidently say just 115 million.

reply

lol those have been there since lastnight....they haven't updated anything....

lol your just making up numbers now

no matinee have been reported yet....

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros./DC’s Justice League made $13M last night per Warner Bros., which is where some of our more aggressive box office analysts saw it. Previews began at 6PM. Last night’s take is higher than the $11M minted by Wonder Woman before earning a $38.2M Friday ($103.3M opening). Based on these estimates, the notion is that Justice League could fly to a $110M-$115M start and a possible $37M-$40M Friday. Already as of Wednesday, Justice League has already collected $8.5M in nine countries, spurred by Brazil, Korea and France. There are 38 more countries opening today.

this is what comes up when you click on the article...the same thing that has been reported since lastnight

still predicting 110 to 115...lol there not more confident now in 115....they havent made any changes yet

reply

No...the 110 was always in the headline and they removed it a while ago. They are looking at matinee numbers but haven't released them yet. I wonder why they would drop the 110?

because JL isn't going to Make 110....

lol Isn't its making a straight disastrous 97 Million....

PS this clearly proves your wrong....

they were looking at Matinees, and then "Confidently" Moved Predictions to 115 M....

They Literally had no updates yet, Matinees had not come in yet, you just made up numbers because you didn't click on the article to see it hadn't been updated yet....

but Goodluck.....

lol your going to need it....Goodluck trying to spin 97 M into a positive or "HOT"

lololololol

also , while International gross is good....So far JL is opening Less than BvS in almost every market....

JL is also opening in almost All of it Overseas markets at the same time this weekend, Instead of the Usual when films role out in half in the first week and half in the second week.

at this Point nothing points to JL making even as much as BvS did overseas let alone making more....given that JL is FOR SURE going to make Less domestically than BvS....Its guaranteed JL is going to make Less overall than BvS

JL is Down 25% over BvS in China....and Is Down 5% over Thor 3 in China....

so far the box office numbers that JL is showing would be good for A Flash movie or Aquaman movie, or maybe even a MOS sequel...But for a TEAM UP film featuring Batman,Superman and Wonder Woman....Its pretty SAD...

were literally looking at JL make like 750 to 800 Million total.....lol JL Is ONLY going to make Half of what The Avengers made....

lol the question has to be asked Why did 2 Avengers movies both become EVENT FILMS and make 1.4 Billion + and Now JL is set to make Half that.....

the answer of course....Is BvS....It was a complete train wreck that did Unimaginable damage and DECREASED hype....

It was just a massive Mistake to release BvS before JL.....audiences already seen DCs biggest heroes come together in BvS, and It KILLED JL as an Event Film.....

Marvel Studios released solo films first that got audiences invested in the characters and it made The Avengers an Event Film seeing all these heroes from other movies come together in 1 film....it resulted in record box office...

But WB just KILLED that with BvS....JL is not at all being seen as an Event Film, its being seen only as A sequel to A Bad BvS film....

you only get a chance to "Bring Heroes" together, and unfortunately WB decided to do that with BvS.....and It just straight KILLED any chance JL would have at being an Event Film and making Avengers type box office...

imagine if the fat lady decides to eat a pig sandwich.

You know what, I just read something similar in John Nolte's review of Justice League.
Here's a few paragraphs of it, where he mentions the third THOR movie and then takes WB to task for their poor product:

"We are five titles into DC’s extended universe, and Warner Bros., a studio that has been producing movies for around 100 years, is still being serially-humiliated by Marvel Studios, which is only 24 years old and did not really start producing its own films until around 2006.

And while the sycophantic Hollywood trades pretend that Justice League’s $110 million opening is a big win, the truth is that Batman v. Superman opened to $166 million and The Avengers opened to $207 million. Everything is going the wrong way for DC. Justice League was supposed to be a climax, the chapter America was building all of its anticipation to see, the one in which our heroes assemble.

The truth, though, is that Thor, a B-character in the Marvel world, just released his third movie and it is probably going to kick the collective ass of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg.

And all of this fail comes down to an audience rapidly losing faith in the quality of DC’s storytelling, a faith that will not be resurrected by Justice League."

reply

I have to agree with most of the review. It's kind of hard to imagine that the 3 of the most relevant and iconic pop culture characters [in this case Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman] lose to a B character no one could give a damn about till the movie Avengers came out.

It's even more egregious when these 3 characters meeting on the Silver Screen for the first time lost to another CBM of a handful of minor characters from a Comic Book series that only the die-hard fans [of said comic books] actually recognize [with the exception of Spider Man and Hulk].

Some 10 years ago, people would ask "Iron Man...who? Ant-what? Nick Furry... Furious... Fewbie?" and now they immediately say "Oh, you mean Robert Downey Jr" or "ah, the shrinking guy" and "good ol' Samuel L. Jackson".

For the people [who are not Comic Book readers] and go to the movies to watch a DCEU CBM their reaction is more akin to "since when is Superman a moping cry baby?"; "I'm sorry... who is Martha again and why should I care?"; "why in all fucks is this movie so goddamn dark?"

reply

OMG its a Trainwreck well beyond any comprehension.....lol JL is set to make 97 Million on OW!

A Sub 100 Million dollar opening for JL.....

like Its OVER....The DCEU is OVER....

WB has to recast Affleck and have to at this point, focus on solo movies....

The Flash is probably DEAD now....JL 2 is DEAD

MOS2 is dead, They got to recast Cavil

WB's got to complete rebot everything but Wonder Woman and Aquaman

reply

They won't reboot, though. It's like those hardheaded idiots who know they lost the game but still say "best out of 3... best out of 5.... best out of 10"

reply

They better not scrap MOS2. That's the only movie I actually wanted. Not all this other crap.

reply

I remember like it was yesterday, that night I went to see BVS with a friend who's a gigantic DC fan. The atmosphere was electric and I wore my Superman tee while he sported his Batman tee. The theater was packed with others wearing Supes and Bats and Wonder Woman tees and when the lights dimmed, you could hear a gasp of excitement from the crowd.

That sadly, is the only good memory from that night. At the end of the movie, the lights went up and there was this heavy shuffling from nearly all the viewers as they headed for the exits, some murmuring here and there but for the most part, it reminded me of folks leaving a funeral visitation. We actually stuck around till all the credits had scrolled off and then left. My buddy was quiet about the movie for several days but when he finally talked about it, you could tell the disappointment had given way to some anger.

Even now, I still can't believe WB allowed this travesty to come to the screen. It has greatly damaged their credibility to the point that I don't trust them to make a decent comic book movie anymore, notwithstanding WW.

reply

My memory form the screening is mumbling, more mumbling, "whaaaaaat?", "loool that's stupid", "Marthaaaaaaaaaa" and my wife yawning.

reply

BvS was my second most anticipated movie of all time....words truly cant describe how excited I was for the film....I was even a fan of Snyders before BvS....

but BvS was literally the single worst theatrical experience of my life....unlike others, instead of relentless defending an Awful movie, I was angry at WB and Snyder for ruining this once in a life time film....

JL would have been my single most anticipated movie of all time had BvS been good....But I literally couldn't even get remotely excited as long as Snyder was directing the film...

the facts are BvS was as big and as important of a film as you can get....and if Snyder truly could have done any better, he would have....there was no reason to expect he could improve with JL...NOt when you had a movie like BvS, BvS was Everything for WB and DC, It was going to Start a DC universe, it was bring the 2 biggest heroes ever together for the first....Snyder Literally put his all into that film...and BvS truly was the best Snyder could do....so for me, that simply left me hopeless going into JL...I knew Snyder could not do any better, as long as Snyder was directing JL...It was DOOMED

I mean there is no calculating the damage Snyder has done to DC with his 3 movies....Batman was A Proven Billion character before Snyder got a hold of him....Superman has been Universally HATED in all 3 of Snyders films...

this isn't as easy and rebooting and getting rid of Snyder....The next 1 or 2 Batman films and Superman Films are going to Suffer, Audiences trust are going to have to be Won back..

and Worst of all the JL franchise is dead for at least 7 years....I mean Snyder Literally KILLED A Franchise that had the potential to make 4 or 5 Billion dollars with 3 films

Imagine IF The Avengers was terrible and Bombed....Disney would literally be missing out at a franchise that already made them 3 Billion and will like make another 3 Billion in the next 2 years

JL is dead for WB...

continues in next post

reply

You almost cant calculate the money Snyder has cost them....

With A Successful MOS,BvS and JL film could have came....

3 JL films making at least 3 billion

3 Batman films with Affleck as Batman making up to 3 Billion

2 More MOS sequel that would have had HUGE jumps in box office from BvS and JL being great

3 Flash films making at 1.5 Billion +(500 Million A film)

these are all DEAD NOW!

instead they have to start over, reboot, recast and suffer the effect of BvS and JL for the first film or 2 until the build audiences trust Back....

WB and Snyder Literally failed as badly as you can possibly fail at trying to make a cinematic universe...

Wonder Woman is the SOLE brightspot and now they got to hope JL doesn't hurt WW2

reply

Warner/DC will never EVER have Marvel level success until they get Hack Snyder away from their product. I simply cannot comprehend why they continue trusting this clown
