But the phrase most used with most of the critics(so far) is "crowd-pleasing" which bodes well for it's box office and legs.

reply

True. But it seems bellow par what the crowd is getting accustomed to, although it also is an improvement over BvS and SS.
DCEU's worst enemy - besides WB executives - is that they took their shtick way too seriously and ended up looking foolish.

[ps - in my mind, the "best" CBM so far are Civil War, Superman and the first Batman movie from the Nolan Trilogy for many different reasons, despite the general consensus. So take this with a lot of salt as well].

reply

Who cares about critics though? Critics are given way too much credit these days. Just go see the movie, enjoy it and make up your own opinion.

reply

"enjoy it" should present it self as being difficult. It's a DCEU movie after all. My bar for DCEU is set pretty low, thanks to the DCEU.

If it so happens I am not pleased with it, I will not say that I am.

reply

My bar is low too actually, but its been a bit higher thanks to the Wonder Woman movie. I know it might be bad, but my hope are there. I'll try to enjoy it for what it is.

reply

Judging by the sensational box office for the DCEU it doesn't seem like many listen to the critics.

reply

I notice you say sensational box office but outside of WW the box office of BvS was disappointing..very disappointing and even SS was as well because of the enormous cost of both movies from production to marketing. There were many stories saying they had to reach the 700-800 mil range to break even. SS fell short of 800 mil and BvS barely crossed. Remember profits from foreign markets have a tendency to be much lower than domestic profits. The totals look great but the bottom line not so much. Now I am sure both films are profitable, but most event films studio want big profits from the theatrical release and they have struggled with this outside of WW. Its why there have been so much concern from WB with these other films. WW is probably the only truly breakout hit of the group so far. The fact we are getting so few reviews from this latest film till Thursday night shows a stunning lack of confidence in it. Its another film that should have been a billion plus film when it was conceived that might struggle to eclipse 800 mil.

reply

Well I go rarely to theaters, from a lack of time and the overall cost. While a critic is unlikely to keep me from a seeing a film eventually I do use those opinion with user reviews and friends that have seen it to judge whether I want to overpay to see it in theaters.

reply

I'm just looking for some fun Aquaman scenes but I have a bad feeling we've seen them all already.
