Vines? Really?

You're making a horror movie set in an ancient Mayan temple and the best antagonist you can come up with is friggin vines? I mean, an angry god, vengeful spirits, ancient skeletal zombies, there are so many cool directions they could've gone with this yet they settled on killer plants? I mean I know this is based on a book so it's not REALLY the filmmakers' faults but still, plants are not effective horror villains and the trailers don't really explain much so I was kinda let down by this one.

I agree with the OP. Using plants as "the monster" was stupid. They were not scary at all.

to be honest, as much as I love them, I am tired of ancient curses, zombies or vengeful spirits. This was something new, at least.

And speaking of plants gone berserk... if you get the chance, I do recommend Serge Brussolo's Crucifix. Great book. Creepy as heck. Hope you'll enjoy it!

Because those ideas haven't been done to death.

I thought the plants were pretty creepy myself. I think of plants as quiet, peaceful, and harmless. So it freaked me out to see them in any other way. It kind of made me worry about plants in the house.
