... start to toss vines all around the Mayans that were there? They could stay at the top of the temple and toss around the vines till they infected everyone!

I just read the book and it's something that author really missed to explore. The way Mayans would treat one of their own after he would come into contact with the vine, having to surrender him to the infected hill, and the following interactions with the protagonists would be really interesting.
