I think I'm one of the few people who like 'Seventeen'

True, the movie could have done without it. However, it's incredibly catchy IMO! Makes me wanna dance.

It's not the best and it seems kind of irrelevant to the plot. It seems kind of like an excuse for Alexa Vega to dance around and be sexy (not that I'm necessarily complaining). And since the real actress was 19 or 20 at the time, they didn't really need an excuse.

They should have changed the song (and the character) to "Eighteen". You could have had a song about her smoking, gambling, making porn, working as a stripper, joining the US military, entering into binding legal contracts. (Or even going back in time to the 1980's and legally buying 3.2 beer in some states). What can you really do at 17 besides go into an R-rated movie without an adult?

I think it is an okay song for what it is. I mean, sure when it comes to my favourite songs of the film, "Seventeen" is nowhere near my top 10 choices but I don't think its THAT bad.

The one song I can't stand in this movie is "Mark It Up", I know its meant to be comedic but its a style of comedy never used again in the entire film and it felt out of place. Plus it deals with a plot point that this film got across easily without it.

"I have always valued my lifelessness."
