I don't think she ever loved him

I get that they married young. That their life had become a routine. But the way she acted towards him was not just anger but disgust. It seems like her true feelings towards him came out.

DON'T GET CRAZY, IT'S JUST A MOVIE!

I say cut them all a little slack. It's not just her true feelings!! And we the movie wasn't just for the audience to objectively witness the move without personal involvement like robots. It must be tough to act the underbelly of modern (American) life. We're all complicit in this lie, this denial to ourselves & others. Of course if your perfect, be the 1st to cast that stone. How could anybody love anybody if they are hiding from the truth, like the shame that they grew ever into in modern life? Do you expect real, true & deep love from that place? Those inner & society wall are huge now & even more so back 66 years ago. You had to have been there, in that world in those times, with your parental imprinting & socialization. And the way the movie ended - perfect with the hearing aid turned off. So yeah, it cut close to the bone, right down to it and yes, like American Beauty. And Americans are known to be positive loving, optimistic people. That is more so before the current political, media, corporate, capitalistic face has started to melt & the 'chickens have come back to the roost', ie karma happens. So kudos to all the makers that made this movie possible, like a dream/nightmare that finally surfaces to begin to resolve the only way forward. I mean what do you expect after a couple of hundred or thousands of years? Great movie, get's a 10 from me. Worth seeing again with someone you love. Nothing like living fully, authentically & learning about who you are. It's like John lennon said ""Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. ... " Did you see a lot of real communication, connections to their real feelings, being in touch with their deeper value or know themselves deeply, or being authentic, or being able & willing to truly care about others. LIfe is not for the weak, cowardly, conforming, uncommitted person without wild passion. These actors represent us & challenge us to be aware & feel our feelings while surrendering to the muse within us. If not, there's one bloody mess after another waiting to clean up afterwards, even literally now & then, both individually & collectively. Life demands the what's beyond our human mind & imagination, to embrace your shadow & leap into the void, the abyss. Perfecto, the Revolutionary Road. DON'T GET CRAZY? What's your "Paris" to get wild about? John Muir said in wilderness is the preservation of the world. Got WILDERNESS...in you, in your life? Being 'gratefully dead' is...overrated & rather sad. Kids know that. :)
